Tony
Meet Tony Ruffin, a man whose life story is as diverse and dynamic as the communities he serves.
Born and bred in the heart of South Central, LA, Tony knows firsthand the struggles and triumphs of growing up in a gang-ridden environment during the height of the gang era.
At the tender age of 16, Tony made a pivotal decision to enlist in the military, seeking a path away from the perils of his neighborhood. His time in the Marine Corps not only instilled in him a sense of discipline and duty but also exposed him to a myriad of cultures and communities as he traversed the globe twice over.
Despite his service, Tony faced his own share of challenges, spending a total of 11 years behind bars. However, it was during this time that his passion for social justice advocacy was ignited. Serving with First Offenders, Tony recognized the power of mentorship and support in steering individuals away from a cycle of incarceration.
Determined to make a lasting impact beyond prison walls, Tony delved into activism upon his release. Yet, disillusioned by the agendas of various groups, he decided to carve his own path. Thus, "I Got Issues" was born—a consultancy dedicated to advocating for urban policy reform and addressing the systemic issues plaguing marginalized communities.
But Tony's contributions extend far beyond his professional endeavors. As a devoted husband and father, he understands the importance of building a better future for the next generation. Whether he's advocating for change on the streets or nurturing his own family, Tony's commitment to community empowerment shines through in everything he does.
