We understand that the relationship between public officials and the community can often be strained, and it is our goal to address this issue and find solutions to create a better future for everyone. We believe that through education, communication, and community outreach, we can build a stronger and more united community.
We offer a variety of programs and resources to help bring public officials and the community together, including community events, workshops, and educational materials. Our goal is to educate the community on the important role that public officials play in our society and to provide public officials with the tools and resources they need to better connect with and serve their communities.
We believe that everyone has a role to play in building a safer and more connected community, and we are committed to making this a reality. Mission Statement
Our mission is to promote mutual respect, understanding, and open communication between the community and public officials in order to develop constructive relationships between them. Through education and community engagement, we aim to break down barriers and build trust. Our goal is to create a safe and inclusive environment where all members of the community feel valued and respected, and where public officials are empowered to serve and protect with integrity.
What we do
By promoting a culture of respect and trust, Pillars & Bridges seeks to bridge the gap between the community and public officials. We work to improve communication and cooperation between all groups through a variety of activities and projects, establishing connections and a welcoming environment for all.
Community engagement activities, youth mentoring programs, and open forums where community members may voice their opinions and offer feedback to public officials are a few of our important projects. To foster empathy and understanding on all sides, we offer training and educational programs to community members and public officials.
Our goal is to create stronger, safer communities where every person feels valued and secure. By contributing to the development of mutual respect and trust, we hope to support the growth of a more positive and constructive relationships within our community.

Respect: To establish a welcoming and safe atmosphere for everyone, we respect the rights and opinions of all community members as well as law enforcement.
Communication: To promote understanding between the community and city officials, we advocate direct and honest communication.
Fairness: We support a non-discriminatory, equal-treatment policy for everyone. In all of our dealings with the community and law enforcement, we work to promote fairness and justice.
Collaboration: We believe that by collaborating and sharing resources, community members, community organizations, businesses and city officials can achieve common goals and create a safer community.
Empathy: Everyone has different life experiences and viewpoints. By demonstrating empathy and compassion, we may create trustworthy connections and promote fruitful partnerships between the community and city officials.

As a non-profit, we rely on the support of volunteers to help us achieve our mission. We are currently looking for individuals who are passionate about community building and are interested in volunteering their time and skills to support our efforts.
Volunteering with us could involve activities such as:

* Assisting with administrative tasks

For several months now, I have been involved with a local grassroots group, Pillars & Bridges, who have been proactively engaging in conversations with the Tucson Police Department and creating "Unity in the Community" events with the intention to foster healing of the divisions between community members and law enforcement.
Pillars & Bridges, Tucson Police Department, and Free Fresh led a community food distribution event at the parking lot of Food City on St. Mary's Road. One thousand boxes of fresh food was freely given to anyone in need. Dozens of volunteers showed up to help including: I am you 360, Pima County Attorney Laura Conover and her staff, representatives from the Mayor's office, Dignity Car Club Tucson AZ, and people from every walk of life. - Kathleen Dreier
